I had a very profound experience at your show this past Friday. I was sitting
there, sort of thinking “okay, impress me” when I realized I wasn’t
really letting the performance in. So I took a deep breath and looked at all
of your faces and the power and joy of what you were experiencing hit me, moving
me to tears. Thank you for the eye-opening experience." — Chris
Kenney

Surrender to the Call: Living Your Authentic Choices
Getting to the Soul of the Matter!
If you are ready for an in-depth reflection on self, this is the series (starting
March 29) for you.
With Colleen Hendrick and
Blair Hornbuckle, of Bush Mango Drum & Dance
Do you ever feel that external events are the cause of your life challenges?
“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to a better
understanding of ourselves.”
— Carl Jung
Have you dreamed of finding happiness or clarity once you had the right relationship,
the right job, the right home?
“We cannot change anything unless we accept it. Condemnation does
not liberate, it oppresses.”
— Carl Jung
Are you interested in discovering core belief patterns that you hold about
yourself and others that you aren’t aware of in day to day living?
“Through pride we are ever deceiving ourselves. But deep down below
the surface of the average conscience a still, small voice says to us, something
is out of tune.”
— Carl Jung

We Celebrated Colleen Hendrick's 50th Birthday February 6, 7, 8, 2009
NYC guest artists Michael Markus and Yalani Bangoura joined us to celebrate Colleen's birthday. Three days of workshops, and a great dance party Saturday night. You only turn 50 once, and what a great way to celebrate! Inauguration Open House draws crowd of over 100 Bush Mango hosted a wonderful special event on inauguration day, 1/20/2009. Over 100 members, friends, and the general public gathered to watch President Obama be sworn in. Many people brought delicious food to share. One standaout was the almond butter & jam sandwiches Jacob Clark, 12 made himself — including grinding the wheat and hand-kneading the bread! The crowd jammed our multi-purpose room to watch the events on WXXI TV. Activities for kids were a big hit, as were two group drumming sessions. Later that evening we put every drum to use, as well as every square foot of dance space, where many first-timers got to experience drum & dance for themselves.
Thanks to all who contributed and participated. It was delightful to be together with you all!
Mother Night played to a packed house on it's final night, with standing room only. The touching story brought some in the audience to tears, and touched everyone deeply. We heard from many that the show was so profoundly moving that they wanted a chance to see it again next holiday season. Perhaps Bush Mango will reprise it? Mother Night was a winter solstice celebration featuring Bush Mango drummers and dancers, and guest artists/actors Dolores Jackson Radney and Shawn Dunwoody. |
